Passport Services

Yes.  Passport Applications are free.  You can obtain a copy of the application in our office, or you can download the application at https://travel.state.gov.  While the application itself is free, there are fees associated with the processing of your application.  Those fees can be found above in the fees table.

Passport photos have certain requirements to be officially acceptable.  Our staff is trained to take passport photos with all of the necessary requirements.  If you don't already have your passport photo, our staff will be glad to take it for you for a small fee.  We are equipped to take passport photos of any age group, including infants.

Routine:  4 - 6 weeks*

Expedited:  2 - 3 weeks* (and an extra $60.00)

Consider the total time it will take to get a passport when you are booking travel.  Processing times only include the time your application is at a passport agency or center.

• It may take up to 2 weeks for applications to arrive at a passport agency or center.  It may take up to 2 weeks for you to receive a completed passport after we print it.
• Processing times + mailing times = total time to get a passport

Obtaining a passport typically takes 4 - 6 weeks. 

If you are in a hurry, you can expedite your passport for a fee to receive it in as little as 2 - 3 weeks.  There is even the option to use overnight mail there and back.

• Expediting fee is $60.00 (Passport Services fee)
• Overnight mail to Passport Services is $33.40 (Okeechobee Clerk fee)
• Overnight return from Passport Services is $22.05 (Passport Services fee)

Some travelers choose to apply for a passport book, others a passport card, and some choose to get both.  The fees referenced in the table above refer to the costs to obtain your passport book.  Adding a passport card would add an additional $30.00 for an adult, or $15.00 for a child to be made payable to the US Department of State.

Passport Book:

• allows you to travel by air, sea and land.

Passport Card:

• allows you to travel by sea and land when arriving from Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, or Bermuda.

A few times a year, Clerk Jerald D. Bryant opens our office to accept Passport applications on a Saturday. This special service makes it easier for people to come with their families without having to take kids out of school and/or leave their own work to handle this important process during our normal business hours.
